8. Malaysian Perspectives on Asean Regionalism

Msian Perspective

Pengarang   : Azirah Hashim, Anthony Milner

Imprint           : Kuala Lumpur: University of Malaya Press, 2019

Muka surat   : 177

Sinopsis :

ASEAN is often said to be the “cornerstone” of Malaysian foreign policy, and Malaysia has certainly played a central role in the development of this regional endeavor. Malaysia’s approach to regionalism and community building, however, has not received enough analytical attention. The study of Malaysian regionalism is important, in part, because over recent years we have seen an increasingly fluid and multiplex Asian region - in which not only major powers but also smaller states can be influential. In this developing situation, it is becoming urgent to understand non- Western thinking about international relations not only in China, the United States and India but also in individual Southeast Asian states such as Malaysia. This essay collection examines a range of Malaysian perspectives on regional institutions and regional community building. It identifies Malaysian aspirations and anxieties, as well as elements of a particular Malaysian regionalist style. It notes to the recurring problem of how to balance regional against more narrowly national objectives.

A Study Fuel

Pengarang   : Firdaus Basrawi, Cindy Binti Olin

Imprint           : Mauritius: Lambert Academic Publishing, 2016

Muka surat   : 92

Sinopsis :

Fuel properties are the fundamental parameters that are often required in order to choose the suitable technology for the combustion process of a fuel. The fuel property focused on this study was the Higher Heating Value which is the energy content and the Self-ignition Temperature of agricultural waste. An experimental study was carried out to obtain these fuel properties of a few agricultural waste samples. The Higher Heating Value was obtained through calorimetric experiment using a bomb calorimeter. The results indicate that coconut husks have the highest heating value with 21.3 MJ/kg while paddy straw has the lowest heating value of 15.6 MJ/kg. Results of Higher Heating Value obtained also shows consistent value with other research findings. Meanwhile the Self-ignition Temperature was obtained through the Crossing Point Temperature (CPT) Method and the experiment was carried out under atmospheric condition. The results indicate that coconut husks have the highest self-ignition temperature while paddy straw has the lowest self-ignition temperature of 213.7⁰C.
